Art and The Public Spirit
Creating art for public spaces presents the artist with a unique opportunity to design for a specific environment and to reach a much larger community. It is a way of giving concrete form to communal insight.
Crucial to the different phases of creating a significant and large-scale work of art is the input of the many people who contribute their expertise to its realization. These people include engineers, architects, interior designers, fabricators, and still others.
All are involved right up to the installation of the work in its public environment. All of this hard work and attention to detail culminates in the final phase of the project - the unveiling of the work to the public. The interpretation and interaction between the work of art and the public completes the piece, and is its ultimate goal.
